At some point in human history they dissected people and figured that out. How else did they determine anatomy?
The Latin term "Nun" being derived from no grey matter in that specific brain structure?
And with some birth defect forms of mental retardation the brain cavity is void of brain and instead filled with spinal fluid? Hence the term "Nun" the equivalent of "None"

Is it a sea mark that means no water?
